About Vera, Ahzimuth Lead Faciliator
Vera is a certified teacher, licensed pilot and parent of monozygotic twins. As of April 2023, she is also a licensed marriage commissioner. Equally at home in a boardroom, classroom, hangar, music studio, or outside in the woods, Vera divides her time between Canada and Mexico. Most of her work takes place in Ontario and on Prince Edward Island, however she has been known to travel as far away as Honduras and Argentina for work and/or volunteer endeavors. Increasingly, online and virtual solutions are also available.
Vera holds a B.Ed., and an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto, as well as a Masters Degree in Thanatology Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). In addition, she is certified in Music, Special Education and ESL, and worked as a vice principal and K-12 instructional coach as well as a classroom teacher before teaching pre-service teacher education at the university level. |
More recently, Vera worked as a public servant, sharing her knowledge and growing her expertise in the role of Education Officer with the Curriculum, Assessment and Student Success Policy Branch at the Ministry of Education in Ontario, while acquiring new policy and additional leadership and collaborative skills. This experience served her well as she spent a year working in the college system as a Curriculum and Instruction Consultant on PEI. Vera now does mainly contract and substitute work, teaching sessional courses and developing or reviewing curriculum, and volunteers with dogs and children in a small community on the pacific coast of Mexico, where she also hosts one of the country's few little free libraries.
